Founded by Morris Shapiro and Joseph Menke, Hi-Hat was manufactured by Keystone Laboratories in Memphis, Tennessee. At the time of its creation, United States segregation laws prevented Hi-Hat products from being sold in stores. They were distributed by brand representatives through social networks. Keystone Laboratory is still a functioning company; however, its line of Hi-Hat products is no longer for sale. The products in production are now available for sale in stores and online.
