Elizabeth Arden began in a Saks Fifth Avenue Salon in New York City. The beauty brand is credited with offering the first makeover in store, creating a lipstick shade as a symbol for the suffragette movement and the first to create travel size products amoung its achievements. Elizabeth Arden became one of the largest female founded beauty brands and continues to operate today. Since the death of Elizabeth Arden, the company was purchased by Eli Lily, until it was sole again to its current owner, Unilever.
