Founded by Charles Jundt, Charles of the Ritz began as a beauty product line in the Ritz-Carlton sold in its salon. Richard B. Salomon was named president of the company and served as CEO until he retired in 1972. Subsequently Charles of the Ritz was sold to E.R. Squibb. Then, it was acquired by Revlon where it was sold until Revlon deemed the brand name unrecognizable in 2002.
