Founded by Max Factor (Maksymilian Faktorowicz), Max Factor was the first product to be called, “Make-Up.” In fact, Max Factor himself authored the article for “makeup” in the 14th edition of The Encyclopedia Britanica. The Max Factor brand was family run until 1991 when it was acquired by Proctor & Gamble. Max Factor is a makeup brand born out of the need for cinematic makeup. Max Factor developed formulas for the screen and then introduced others for those wishing to achieve the same look they had seen on screen.
