Mary Haley and Margaret Dryden, also known as the Elmo Sisters, ran their cosmetics company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The sisters split their business into two companies ran by one sister respectively: Elmo, Inc. and Elmo Sales Corporation, Inc. Many new product ranges were released by the company and manufacturing increased. The success of the company was due in large part to the sales strategies developed by the Elmo Sisters. After Mary’s death in 1953, the company was rumored to sell, and in 1956 Elmo cosmetics sold.
