SHU UEMURA, Japan

Shu Uemura was a makeup artist and hair stylist from Tokyo, Japan. He worked in the film industry, and through his work, gained notoriety. Shu Uemura cosmetics began with a cleanser, that also works as a moisturizer, which is still popular today. Shu Uemura ran an internationally successful company and eventually sold to L’Oreal in 2004 where Shu Uemura remained creative director for the cosmetics line until his death in 2007.
