The details of how French cosmetic company, Dorin, came into being are a mystery, but Marguerite Brunet is credited with launching the enterprise in 1780 because of her close relationship with Queen Marie-Antoinette. She and King Louis XVI chose Dorin as the official royal supplier of cosmetics, perfume and powder. With their reputation, Dorin continued to expand globally and grew in notoriety among theatrical productions. The great success of Dorin continued until World War II where its production did not survive the destruction of the war. It wasn’t until 1998 when Dorin was reconstructed by the manufacturer, French Excellence, that production of cosmetics resumed. Now, Dorin perfumes are available for sale internationally, online and in boutiques.
