In the development of personal hygiene, deodorant became more popular than perfume for controlling body odor. The idea of controlling body odor was created through marketing targeting an insecurity people may have about how they smell, further that perspiration was a problem to be managed. Spiro deodorant was advertised in 1905 for controlling the odor of sweat in the under arms. Spiro deodorant was one of the first major brands available in drugstores. Its end of production date is unknown.
