William Colgate created a soap and candle business in 1806. He died in 1857 and the company expanded into perfume and powders. In 1900, Colgate won awards for best perfumes and soaps at the World’s Fair. Colgate expanded into toiletries and dental hygiene. Now, a global company, Colgate has been in operation for over two centuries.
