Marie Germaine Moratille established Germaine Monteil in Paris, France. At a fashion show in New York City Germaine Monteil premiered its line of cosmetics. Despite launching its makeup line during the Great Depression, Germaine became a luxuary brand known for its high end perfumes, lipsticks and skin creams. It prospered until Germaine Monteil was sold in 1968.
