| Identifier | Joseph-Albert Ponsin developed theatrical makeup as an actor in Paris, France. He had success, but he went bankrupt and sold his business to Alexandre-Napoléon Bourjois. A factory opened selling fragrance and a line of makeup. Bourjois expanded internationally with factories in over 15 countries. World War II destroyed many of its expansions and trade partnerships. The damage from the war and the brand's failure to expand its makeup range lead to the sale of the company. |
